Car Rental New York and Sunnyside Queens Neighborhood

Sunnyside is a neighborhood in Queens, in the west side of the borough. There are a number of ethnic groups in the area from all over the world. The location of the neighborhood makes it easy to get to Manhattan with your car rental in New York City via the Long Island Expressway or to Brooklyn by the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The area is bordered by Woodside to the east and south and Long Island City to the west.

The area developed after the Queensboro Bridge was completed in 1909. Before that, it was largely a farm area and marshland. It is known as one of America’s first planned communities: Sunnyside Gardens was constructed from 1924-1929 and was one of the first developments to incorporate the “superblock” model in the United States. This area has streets which you can drive through with your car rental in New York City of brick row houses that are two and a half stories, with front and rear gardens and a landscaped central court for the neighborhood. This was planned to allow for more people to live in the area, but in less space.

Recognize the name?

The area is famous for many people. But perhaps one of the best known residents is a fictional character: Peter Parker. Who? Spiderman lived here with his Aunt Mary and Uncle Ben in the Spiderman films. This is also where the Ramones played some of their earliest gigs in the local pubs.

This is the only community to allow Gay and Lesbian Irish Americans to march in the St. Patrick’s day parade, which attracts people such as former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and even Hillary Clinton. There are also many restaurants for you to discover on Queens Boulevard with your car rental in New York City.

P.S. 1 is an internationally renowned museum that is devoted to contemporary art and is known for its avant-garde exhibits and alternative space movement. The museum works with the Museum of Modern Art, but has a completely different feel to it. It’s a little less structured, a little crazier. This museum was at one time a school. One of the things that you should check out is the roof, where you will find an unadvertised sculpture if you happen to go out for a smoke before heading back to your car rental in New York City to go back to Sunnyside. For more art, there is also 5 Pointz, where there is changing graffiti art at the corner of Crane Street and Jackson Avenue by local artists.
