Car Rental New York City and Sea Gate

Sea Gate is found at the far western end of Coney Island. It is a private, gated community on Gravesend Bay with single family homes.

Good Eats

This area has some of the best food! You can eat Coney-style food at Coney Island, such as the Coney Dog, or you can try some of Brooklyn’s famous restaurants just a short drive away in your Brooklyn car rental. Try pizza at Grimaldi’s, a very popular pizza place. Be prepared for lines here, but the wait is worth it! Or, if you are looking for something sweet, try Junior’s. They are said to have the best cheesecake, with dozens of varieties to choose from.

Amusement Parks

Drive around with your Brooklyn car rental on Coney Island to see one of the most famous roller coasters of all time, the Cyclone. It opened in 1927 where the world’s first roller coaster was located, a roller coaster called the Great Coaster. The Cyclone is a wooden-track roller coaster that is tight and steep. This is due to the small amount of space on the island for the coaster. However, it remains one of Coney Island’s best attractions. Come down to Coney Island in your Brooklyn car rental to try it. Astroland also has many other rides and games for those who do not like roller coasters.

Beaches

Brooklyn was built on and around islands, so it has some excellent beaches that are within an hour drive with a Brooklyn car rental. Coney Island is said to be the “granddaddy of New York beaches”. It is easy to get to by Brooklyn car rental or by subway. The beaches here stretch two miles from east to west. In the summer, it can be crowded on weekends with people who want to escape the heat. There is also a great boardwalk here, which has recently been restored. It is one of the longest in the world and was the subject of the popular oldie, “Under the Boardwalk”.

New York Aquarium

Once located in Battery Park, the New York Aquarium is the oldest aquarium in the United States that remains open. Now located on Coney Island, it is close by with your Brooklyn car rental, but once you are there, there is so much to do and see. It is located on Surf Avenue & West 8th Street and features over 8000 animals from all over the world, including some from the arctic, the coast of Africa, and even the Hudson River. You can see feedings and demonstrations every day, and learn about some of the research going on. This is a great place to visit with kids: it is a lot of fun and educational.

A Short Trip to the Big City

Coney Island is only a short trip to New York and New Jersey in your Brooklyn car rental. You can sightsee by day and relax at night in a small-town atmosphere. Sights such as Carnegie Hall, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Central Park, and many more are just a short trip by Brooklyn car rental or by subway. Or, you can travel through Long Island. Long Island is 118 miles long and only 20 miles wide with many historical sites, parks, and beaches to enjoy.
