Red Hook International Film Festival

The Red Hook International Film and Video Festival is an annual festival open to all Filmmakers, Artists, Videographers, Animators, or Video Artists in Manhattan car rentals who have produced a film, video, animation, motion design, or commercial project.

Eligibility for Artists in Manhattan car rentals

In order to be eligible, the piece that artists in Manhattan car rentals submit must have been produced in the past 2 years. The festival is looking for any short films in any genre! If artists in Manhattan car rentals are interested in submitting work to the festival, they must send 2 NTSC DVDs of the film and a brief synopsis that includes the running time and credits. The submission fee is $20, with the check made out to The Brooklyn Waterfront Arts Coalition. Categories that interested participants in Manhattan car rentals can submit to include documentary, drama, comedy, animation, commercial, experimental, CG and video art. The preferred submission format is avi or mov files with standard compression, full digital files, DVD video disk, or MiniDV.

The 2010 Red Hook International Film and Video Festival

The 2010 Red Hook International Film and Video Festival took place on Saturday October 16 and Sunday October 17 at The Brooklyn Waterfront Artist's Coalition's Screening Room, located at 499 Van Brunt Street. The Best Fiction Film at the 2010 Red Hook International Film Festival was Two Birds, directed by Francesco Saviano. The best Documentary Film was The Hole, directed by Courtney Sell and Billy Feldman. The Spirit Award went to Michael Buscemi (actor and filmmaker) and Matthew Silver (actor and filmmaker). The Audience Award went to Famous 4A, a film directed by Mike Attie about how you would live if you know you have less than six months left. The festival began with a screening of Huck on the Gowanus which was an animation about a boy Huck. The screening began on the Waterfront at 1PM. Other popular films and videos that were shown at the 2010 Red Hook International Film and Video Festival include Doc Block: Housing Issues, Man in Van, Dream House, Open House, Where We Gonna Go, The Shadow Monster, Nothing Happened, Dos C, and The Line. The After Party for the 2010 Festival took place at Sunny's Bar with live music by Household Tales.

Guidelines for the Fourth Annual 2011 Red Hook International Film and Video Festival

For the fourth annual festival, interested participants in Manhattan car rentals must submit their film or video by Monday September 27, 2011. Interested artists in Manhattan car rentals must fill out the entry form, and their submission can be in any genre including film, video, animation, and experimental projects. The fee for submission is $20, with the check made out to The Brooklyn Waterfront Arts Coalition. Artists in Manhattan car rentals can pay via PayPal or credit cards.

The Festival Founder and Chairperson is Daniel Durning. Festival Managers are David Spritzler and Aaron Sugiura. The Festival Advisor is Nathan Kensinger and the judges are made up of Daniel Durning, Nathan Kensinger, David Spritzler, Aaron Sugiura and Sarah Nelson Wright.
