If you are interested in learning a little bit more about certain animals, there is an Education Center where you can get information on plants and animals. Guests will discover a range of animals from the North American habitat, the American Plains, the rocky California Coast and the Northeastern Forest. In the "wild" section of the center, you can look at bobcats, bison, coyotes, elk, sea lions and others. The native wildlife and many birds can be found in the aviary and a marsh habitat.

Wildlife in your Backyard

The Queens Wildlife Center also offers school programs for kids in pre-Kindergarten to grade 12. For children in pre-K and K, "Animals and You" talks about humans relationships with wildlife. "Magnificent Mammals" is for kids in grades 1-3 and uses live wildlife examination and hands-on activities. Kids in grades 4-8 can learn about how important it is to have a healthy environment for humans and animals in the "Wildlife in your Backyard" program. The Wildlife Center can also talk to teachers about how to modify their programs to fit the students involved. All of these programs run for about 60-90 minutes and class size can be from 25-35 students. School programs cost $100 per class which includes admission into the center. The Wildlife Center is open daily at 10:00am and closes at 5:00pm on weekdays and 5:30pm on weekends and holidays. Admission is $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for seniors. Children up to age 12 cost $.50 and kids under 3 years old get in free. If you are planning on traveling in a group, the rates are the same and there is no need to register in advance.
