Explore the homestead

The Kingsland Homestead is a home from the 18th century that is located in a small park in Flushing. It is the headquarters of the Queens Historical Society where you can visit their museum with your Yonkers car hire. It is located near where the Quakers made their first permanent home in New Amsterdam. The name comes from British sea captain Joseph King who bought the home in 1801. On the second floor, you will find the parlor as if a Victorian family lived there.

Plan your visit

The Queens Historical Society is open Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2:30-4:30 for you to explore the museum. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students. To get here with your Yonkers car hire, Take the Long Island Expressway from the Queens Midtown tunnel to the Van Wyck Expressway. Get on the Van Wyck and go north to Northern Boulevard east exit. Take Northern Boulevard past Main Street for three lights until you get to Parsons Boulevard and turn right. Make a right on the first street, 37th Avenue. The Kingsland Homestead is on the right at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Exploring Flushing

Flushing was a neighborhood that was founded in 1645 in the north central part of Queens, ten miles east of Manhattan. It was one of the first Dutch settlements on Long Island, and today is one of the largest and most diverse neighborhoods. There are numerous historical structures that you can explore while you are here with your Yonkers car hire. Flushing Town Hall is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institute. There are other registered sites such as the Bowne House, Old Quaker Meeting House, St. George's Church, and the Lewis H. Latimer House. They play at Citi Field for their home games, although there were at Shea Stadium until the end of the 2008 season.
