Majestic Theater

The Majestic Theater is a Broadway Theater on West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan. It is one of the largest Broadway theaters, with 1607 seats when you visit with your car rental Queens. It has traditionally been a venue for major musical productions, including Carousel, South Pacific, and Phantom of the Opera.

Theater history

Where the current Majestic Theater currently stands, there was once an earlier theater with the same name at the current site of the Time Warner Center. It was designed in 1903 by John Duncan, who also designed Grant's Tomb. This is where the original musicals The Wizard of Oz and Babes in Toyland were performed. The current theater at West 44th Street was designed by architect Herbert Krapp. It was designed as part of a larger entertainment complex, including the John Golden Theater, the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater, and the Milford Plaza Hotel. Today, it is one of the biggest venues you can visit with your rental car Queens.

Architecture

When you visit with your Queens car rental, you will find that the theater was designed in a "modern Spanish" style, with terra-cotta base, brick-wall ornamentation, and arched windows. There are great sight lines for the audience with its theater-style seating. It has a large single balcony instead of two, which was popular at the time.

Past Shows

Some of the performances that have taken place here include Camelot (the Musical), Funny Girl, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Fiddler on the Roof, The Wiz, Grease, and The Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom of the Opera is the longest running show in the history of Broadway and won the 1988 Tony Award. This is the story of life beneath the stage at the Paris Opera House, where the deformed phantom terrorizes people. At least, until he falls in love with Christine Daae, who teaches him to sing "Music of the Night". This is an excellent show to see with your Queens car rental.

Plan your visit

When you visit the Majestic to see a show with your Queens rental car, there are shows Monday at 8 p.m., Tuesday at 7 p.m., Wednesday at 2 and 8 p.m., Thursday at 8 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 and 8 p.m. There are no shows on Sunday. Parking is available in the blocks around the theater, but you may want to get here early to ensure a good parking spot. Why not also grab a bite to eat before the show? You will find many restaurants in the area serve quick meals just for the theater crowd. But try to get a reservation before going down there so you don't find yourself hungry during the show!

Other Broadway Theaters

Ask your concierge which ones are the best ones to see while you are here (and there are so many, you are sure to find something appealing!). The Gershwin Theater nearby is another big Broadway theaters. Currently, Wicked is showing here, and you can even try to get a great deal with the daily ticket draw where you can get tickets for under $30, if you are lucky. There is also the Imperial Theater, which is a bit smaller. This theater is owned by the same company that owns the Majestic.
