Liberty State Park

Liberty State Park is the park that is located in New Jersey, opposite the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island with your car hire New York.

What was here before

The park is located on an area that was once oyster beds that formed part of the Hackensack Indian territory. In the seventeenth century, it was part of the colonial province of New Netherland. It was part of a ferry port for the local community in Hudson County. In the 19th century, it was a major shipping, manufacturing, and transportation hub for the area. It was also a port of entry from Ellis Island, where immigrants would land in the United States.

What to expect

Liberty State Park is 1212 acres in area and mostly surrounded by water. It is built on the land that was once the Central Railroad of New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley Railroad. There is an area of the park that overlooks the Statue of Liberty and has some picnic areas.

Along the water

The southern portion of the park, Caven Point, is separated from the main part of the park by the Liberty National Golf Club. You can get here by taking the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. This is located on the Kill van Kull on the western shore of Upper New York Bay and the Hudson River. Although it is still an ongoing project, it is a great place to visit with your car hire New York. It crosses about 18.5 miles along the shore and provides beautiful views. Some points of interest include Bergen Point, Bayonne Bridge, Port Johnson, and Robbins Reef Light.

Learning is fun

The science center also has a number of live shows every day that will make science come to life.

New York Harbor

New York Harbor is the collection of rivers, bays, and estuaries near the mouth of the Hudson River that you can visit with your car hire New York. There are many interesting points of interest along this important waterway. There are 240 miles of shipping channels, anchorages, and port facilities located on Upper New York Bay and opens to the Atlantic Ocean. The port facilities here are some of the biggest in the nation, as well as a thriving marine life under the water.

Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty

Ellis Island is located across from Liberty State Park. At its peak, over 11,000 immigrants would arrive in a day. Those with visible health problems would be sent home or held in hospital facilities, then the others would face questioning from officials. It also became known as “The Island of Tears” and :Heartbreak Island”, although only about 2% of people arriving were denied entry. The Statue of Liberty is an iconic and represents the friendship between France and the United States during the American Revolution.
