Musical written by Scott Brown and Anthony King, Gutenberg! The Musical! Off Broadway is a musical production you can't afford to miss when you travel with your car rentals in New York City. It was developed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City where it ran for a full year.
Gutenberg! The Musical! Off Broadway moves on...
The show was also a part of the 2005 and 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival in January 2006 played at the Jermyn Street Theatre in London. On December 3, 2006, Gutenberg! The Musical! Off Broadway officially opened op on Off - Broadway at 59E59 where it then transferred at The Actors' Playhouse on January 16, 2007. Starring Christopher Fitzgerald and Jeremy Shamos the Gutenberg! The Musical! Off Broadway production is currently being directed by Alex Timbers with music directed by T. O. Sterrett.

The production tells the story of two characters named Bud and Doug, the fictional authors of a musical about Johannes Gutenberg. The play continues with Bud and Doug pitching their production to producers who might put their show up on Broadway. With neither a cast nor an orchestra, Bud and Doug wear hats to convey all 30 characters in their play as well as playing roll of themselves. In this creative play within a play, the play Johann Gutenberg tells of a story of a wine pressure who invents the printing press. With additional characters including the antagonist, and evil monk and a beautiful girl who is in love with him, this creative production will have you amazed.

Off Broadway is not your typical Off Broadway production, it has garnered several awards at the First Annual NYMF Awards for Excellence including winner of the 2006 NYMF Award for Outstanding Individual Performance Christopher Fitzgerald and Jeremy Shamos. As well, Scott Brown and Anthony King brought home the 2006 NYMF Award for Excellence in Musical Theater Writing (Book)
