Admission is $6.50 per child Monday to Friday and $8.50 per child on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. The games and attractions may cost extra. They are open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Getting to know the area

Located in the western portion of Queens, it is bordered by Eliot Avenue to the north, Woodhaven Boulevard to the east, Cooper Avenue to the south, and Lutheran Cemetery to the west. It is near the neighbourhoods of Elmhurst, Maspeth, and Ridgewood. Who knew?

When you are here with your Queens car hire, you may learn that the area was settled in 1816 by the English and was named because it is the mid-point between Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Jamaica, Queens. In 1852, a Manhattan Lutheran Church purchased a large portion of farmland on the western end of the hamlet, which is now Lutheran Cemetery. There is also St. John's Roman Catholic Cemetery was laid out on the eastern end of the town in 1879. Hotels and services started to appear at the end of the 19th century to meet the needs of those visiting their loved ones at the cemeteries in the area. St. John's Cemetery is most famous for those that inhabit it, including John Gotti, Lucky Luciano, Joe Gallo, and Carlo Gambino.

Spending some time outside

The area is also the home of Juniper Valley Park, which is a large public park. It is over 55 acres and offers tennis, handball, basketball, and bocce courts; seven baseball fields; a quarter-mile running track; and a football/soccer field. During the American Revolution, the British cut down many of the trees in the area and the swamp's peat was used to make heat. In 1916, the New York Connecting Railroad carved through the eastern side of the swamp and drained a lot of the water here. By the 1920s, the area was being used for recreation purposes and as a race track. The city took over the land in 1931 and it was formally developed into a park for public use.
