Museum History

When you visit with your 15 passenger van rental, you may learn that the museum opened in 1973 under the name GAME (Growth Through Art and Museum Education). It was founded by Bette Korman during a time of financial crisis when art, music, and cultural programs were being cut in schools. With a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, artists and educators came together to meet those needs. Throughout its history, the museum has expanded its exhibit space and programming by adding a media center, an outdoor environmental center, and an early childhood center. A partnership with Disney on the World of Pooh brought a lot of attention to the museum.

Impact on kids
