The Brooklyn International Film Festival (BiFF) will take place in 2008 from May 30-June 8. If you are visiting during this time with your NYC rent a car, then be sure to check out some of the events that take place.

See the world at large in Brooklyn

The Brooklyn International Film Festival is an international competitive film festival that takes place every year. It is for independent film makers to showcase their work. You can catch it with your NYC rent a car. This is a not-for-profit organization that operates under the Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation. The goal is to discover, expose, and promote independent film makers.

Expose yourself to healthy competition

Part of the draw of visiting the Brooklyn International Film Festival with your NYC rent a car is that it is a competitive film festival. The films for 2008 are not available at this time, but in 2007 some of the films that were shown include Amour Fou (Best New Director), Arranged (Best Feature & Grand Chameleon Award), Body/Antibody (Audience Award & Best Original Score), The Elephant King (Best Actor), Made In Brooklyn (Best Producer), and Sunny (Best Screenplay).

Tour Brooklyn while seeing films

There are a number of locations where films are being screened for the 2008 Brooklyn International Film Festival. When you visit with your NYC rent a car, be sure to check out the exact location of the screening. Most of the films will be screened at the Brooklyn Lyceum. This is located in Green-Wood Cemetery. It is found in an area that was once one of the most culturally influential cities in the world. The Lyceum continues to be a venue where culture is put on display to the public, not only with the Brooklyn International Film Festival. Brooklyn Heights Cinema is another location where many of the films are screened, located at 70 Henry Street with your NYC rent a car. Smaller venues include the Brooklyn Central Library and Studio B in Greenpoint, which is where the Polish Film Program is located.

Not just for adults

The Brooklyn International Film Festival is not just for grown-ups. There is also a section for kids! You can take the kids with your NYC rent a car to see a screening. In 2007, Karma Cafe was the audience winner, which is a short film about a coffee shop cashier who helps a young man seeking love find confidence in himself. Honorable mention went to Voodoo Bayou, which is about a voodoo doll that comes to life after being bitten by an electrified mosquito. He realizes that he is being used for evil and tried to escape control of his master. There are really great films to see with the whole family when you visit with your NYC rent a car.

The Brooklyn International Film Festival is a competitive film festival for up-and-coming artists to showcase their work, which you can see from May 30 – June 8, 2008.
