The Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, or BEMF, sought out some of the hippest nonconventional music acts in the business for their first ever festival, boasting names like Cobra Krames, Crime Novels and SubDrive DJ's. The BEMF is presented by three of Brooklyn's most forward thinking music industry organizations - Impose Magazine, the Street Attack marketing agency and Famous Friends promotions. The flow of music is changing

The inaugural line-up

2008 marked the first year for the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, but that didn't mean the line-up was filled with first-time performers. Seasoned bands like Loose Shus & Romanoff took to the stage for this one day dance party, providing Brooklyn car rental customers with hours of non-stop grooves. Performers include The Glass, Purple Crush, Lismore and the headlining Todosantos. A handful of ultra cool DJs also performed, including VDRK, Neon Coyote and Rekles. Musical mayhem was the main order of the day, as thousands of eager fans let loose to the sounds of Brooklyn's underground electronic scene.

Information about the Festival

The inaugural BEMF took place on August 9th, 2008 at The Yard in Brooklyn New York. The festival was such a huge success that plans are already in the works for next year's event. The 2008 festival was a one day program beginning at noon and lasting until 9pm. Tickets were just $10 if you bought them ahead of time or $15 at the door. Next year's festival is sure to be even bigger than the first, so keep your ear to the ground to exciting BEMF announcements.
