About the Brooklyn Music Festival venue
The Brooklyn Country Music Festival is held inside the Southpaw Bar & Club located at 125 Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn. Carved out of what was once a 99 Cent Discount store in the heart of Brooklyn, this club is now one of the area's hottest night spots. Inside, NYC car rental travelers will find more than 5,000 square feet of space, as well as a second bar area called DownSouth. Over the years, this unique concert location has earned quite the reputation. In fact, Time Out NY has chosen it as one of the top 5 music venues in all of New York City. The festival (in a nutshell)
The Brooklyn Country Music Festival is devoted to good-time dance band music. Surprisingly enough, the music reflects the life of NYC, which is always been a haven for country acts. Listen close and you'll hear the soulful lyrics harkening back to a more traditional era, where the sound of trains never drown out the honky-tonk music. The New Yorker described the festival best when it said "the scene takes traditional Nashville and electrified Bakersfield honky-tonk aesthetics as a guide but adds a gritty native pulse, influenced by rumbling subway trains, alternate side of the street parking, and the presence of a few million close neighbours."
