A new rule has been instituted that all single occupancy vehicles will not be allowed into Manhattan during the weekday rush hours of 6AM to 10AMThis means that you will not be allowed into the borough of Manhattan in your Brooklyn rental car if you are traveling alone. Crossings between Brooklyn and Manhattan that enforce this rule include the Brooklyn Bridge, Williamsburgh Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Vehicles that only have one occupant will be turned away at the DOT-operated checkpoints.

    Tolls in Brooklyn

    Certain crossing points from Brooklyn to other boroughs will require a toll, as these entryways are often less congested with traffic during peak travel hours. Effective March 13, 2005 the toll for using the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel will be $4.50 per two-axle vehicle, (this will include your Brooklyn car rental).
