All Car Rent A Car Sponsors Brooklyn Council, BSA, 2009 Cub Scout Pinewood Derby
Kings Plaza Mall, Brooklyn, NY 3/7/09—Brooklyn’s own, All Car Rent A Car, was the proud sponsor of the Brooklyn Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2009 Pinewood Derby race.
For four hours on Saturday March 7, 2009 the Kings Plaza Shopping Center on Flatbush Avenue and Avenue U was transformed into the Kings Plaza Motor Speedway as over 125 of the finest miniature racecars in Brooklyn dueled for the top three positions in five classes (first-grade—fifth-grade). This annual borough-wide Scouting competition offers the fastest racers from every neighborhood in Brooklyn an opportunity to compete in a large public venue. All Car jumped on board this year giving a helping hand to the Scouts by underwriting the expenses of the trophies awarded to the winners and for the patch every competitor received. Additionally, this season we sponsored the All Car Cup, awarded to Brooklyn’s fastest individual car! Robert, a beaming Bear Cub (forth grade) from Pack 99 in Bensonhurst, walked out of Kings Plaza with a trophy nearly as tall as himself!
The fifteen trophy winners have earned the right to represent Brooklyn at the nation’s only five Council race. The top racers from the five boroughs will compete in the 2009 Pinewood Derby Invitational Grand Championship Race on April 11th in Times Square to determine the fastest Pinewood Derby cars in New York City.
