Coney Island Opening Tomorrow!

Friday, May 25th, 2012

You know summer 2012 is here when Coney Island opens for business. The boardwalk at Coney Island, which is otherwise known as America’s playground officially, opens for the summer season on May 26, 2012.

Though Coney Island is located in the southern tip of Brooklyn, the Coney Island amusement area is the amusement area for the entire New York City area. Coney Island, Brooklyn, is a great get away with your car rental or take a group of kids, friends, co-workers and neighbors, rent a minivan or 15 passenger van and head to the attractions, rides and of course the wonderful beach.

Check out this web site which highlights many off the attractions in Coney Island. http://www.coneyislandfunguide.com/rides-and-attractions.htm.

There is plenty of parking from on street parking, which is free since the New York City Council passed a resolution which provides for free parking meters on Sunday’s. There are also parking lots available, so whether you live in the northern end of New York City in the Bronx or Queens and Manhattan, there is no other place in New York City like Coney Island.

This year there are two new rides which are debuting this weekend. There is an all new roller coaster, a Skycoaster which launches riders 100 feet in the air as well as the all new Coney Island Raceway which will be a go-kart race course for kids of all ages. Saturday morning at 11am is the official start time of the new attractions.

So head out, rent a car from one of our many offices in the City, from the exciting new Fiat 500 to the 2012 Toyota Camry and the reliable Ford Econoline 15 passenger van and Chrysler Town & Country minivan and experience for yourself the feel of the breeze coming off the Atlantic Ocean, the sand between your toes and the thrills of Coney Island as Brooklyn and the entire City of New York return to their heyday of summer fun.

Seat Belts

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

As we approach Memorial Day weekend, whether you are driving a car from Allcar or your own car, (why would rent from anyone else so we won’t even offer that option), we want to remind you to Buckle Up.

Police Departments throughout the country and especially here in New York City are enforcing seat belt laws.

Police in Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan are operating under the campaign “Click it or Ticket It” which is a means of the New York City Police Department to enforce New York State Laws regarding seat belt usage.

Of course New York City car rentals and 15 passenger van rental vehicles are covered under the law and occupants must wear seat belts.

Here are some chilling statistics to consider:

  • More people die in Highway deaths from not wearing a seat belt than from alcohol or excessive speed.
  • Wearing a seat belt saves 148 lives and hundreds of millions of dollars in reduced injuries and deaths.
  • The cost of a hospital visit and care for someone injured not wearing a seat belt is 50% higher than for those injured wearing a seat belt. Most of the time, the injured person is not the one paying the hospital bill. We are left paying for the cost of treating those injured in a car and not wearing a seat belt. When getting into your Allcar rent a car, 15 passenger vans or any of the other discounted car rental deals we have available, wear your seat belt.
  • Everyone seated in the front seat of a car, rent a car, 15 passenger van and mini van, must wear their seat belts.
  • Anyone sitting in the back seat of the car rental, 15 passenger van and mini van must wear a seat belt.
  • All children who are 4 years old and younger must be in a federally approved safety seat. You can bring your own car safety seat for use while driving one of the many makes and models we have available for rental at our locations in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx.

You can read more about this campaign and car seat belt safety at the following web site: http://www.safeny.ny.gov/seat-ndx.htm
