Car Rentals NYC and the Aqueduct Race Track
Do you like speed? Do you like animals? Do you like animals that are fast? If you answer yes to any of these questions then you must visit the Aqueduct Race Track in Queens, New York. The track has so much to offer to those who enjoy a good horse race. Visit the track on your up coming NYC car rental vacation and you could win big bucks (if you choose to place a bet). This race track opened on Sept. 27, 1894 in Queens. In 1956, the track was ripped apart and in 1959, the new "Big A" was opened. At this point in time, races were only held in the spring and summertime because of harsh weather that would destroy the track in the winter. Finally, in 1975, an inner track was built to facilitate races in the winter. This helped generate more customers and more excitement on a day-to-day basis. It's a great way to spend a day with the family, or just to have some time to yourself on your next NYC car rental trip.
Numbers to Live By
Over the years, Aqueduct has kept track of every number imaginable to compare and improve so that it can continue to get better and better. Here are a few of the most important and most interesting numbers just to give you an idea of what the track is all about:
- Main course: 1 1/8 miles
- Inner dirt course: 1 mile
- Turf course: 7/8 mile
- Trackside dining: 1,200
- Parking capacity: 8,000 vehicles
- Attendance capacity: 40,000
- Total seating capacity: 17,000
A Little Something Extra

If you are about to leave the track and realize that you lost something, check out the Lost and Found in the security office, it's bound to be there. If you missed a race and were really looking forward to seeing that particular one, you can go to the race replay centers in the clubhouse or grandstand to catch it again. Aqueduct also offers ATM machines, coat checks, first aid, binocular rentals and personal handicapping stations. There are many more services the track provides to make everyone happy throughout the year.
